Enter The Arena
IT IS A HIGH CALLING
Tomorrow you enter the arena…
If your like most of us, this is where you spend most of your time.
This is the YOUR mission field.
This is where, YOU, get to fight back the darkness!!!
Last week we talked about being an example, Not the police. But this does not mean we get to take a flippant attitude towards the example we set. The hard truth is, that some of your co-workers have never, and if not for you may not ever opened a Bible.
It is absolutely a high calling to represent our King.
So here is something to think about?
Are you the same man of God at work, as you are when you are around your Christian brothers and sisters?
Do you show up to work and say things there that sounds more like you are working for the kingdom of darkness.
Do people KNOW that you follow Jesus? And if they do, would they be able to tell by your character?
Here is the truth. . .
If you look at your work life and you see a man or woman that does not represent our King well, Then you are taking THE LORD’S name in vain. You are calling yourself a Christian, but your work life doesn’t show it.
Now there are a lot of people who will tell you, “its okay” or “don’t feel so bad”, But James (the brother of Jesus) will not. He would say…
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
James 4:6–10.
The language here sounds harsh. Because it is. We cannot go through life arrogantly claiming to belong to Christ, and acting like the devil. We wont get it right all the time, and there is grace upon grace and forgiveness for when we fail. But, if when we misrepresent our King, we are not upset by it, then we don’t have a King, we arrogantly sit on the throne of our own life and unrepentantly go about our day as if we are the king.
Hey Christians…
To represent the Kingdom of Jesus Christ is a High calling. It is an honor and an adventure.
So as you walk in to work today, pray for a humble and obedient heart, a warrior’s spirit to fight back darkness, and a character that represents our King well.
This is your mission, whether you choose to accept it or not…
